How to say hello and goodbye in Catalan
Say “Bon dia” until lunch, “Bona tarda” through the afternoon and early evening, and “Bona nit” after that. “Hola” works any time. To ask how someone is: “Com estàs?”; answer “Tot bé, gràcies” or “Anar fent”. To say goodbye: “Adéu”, “Fins demà” or “Fins aviat”.
Try it · about two minutes
Through the day you greet shopkeepers, neighbours and colleagues, and say goodbye the right way.
Sound on: the shopkeeper, neighbour, colleague speaks Catalan. You choose what to say back, and Frasa tells you why it works.
