How to ask someone to repeat in German
Say “Können Sie das bitte wiederholen?” or “Entschuldigung, ich verstehe das nicht”. If they’re too fast, ask “Bitte sprechen Sie langsamer”. For a single word, “Was bedeutet dieses Wort?”, and if you need it on paper, “Können Sie es bitte aufschreiben?”. Instead of a bare “Was?”, say “Wie bitte?”.
Try it · about two minutes
A neighbour is talking too fast for you, so you ask them to repeat, slow down or write it down.
Sound on: the neighbour speaks German. You choose what to say back, and Frasa tells you why it works.
