How to say where you’re from in German
To “Woher kommen Sie?”, answer “Ich komme aus Kanada”. Next come “Wie lange wohnen Sie schon hier?” (“Ich bin vor etwa sechs Monaten hergezogen”) and often “Was hat Sie dazu gebracht, hierherzuziehen?”, so have a one-line reason ready, such as “Ich habe hier eine Stelle bekommen”.
Try it · about two minutes
A new acquaintance asks where you’re from, how long you’ve lived here and what brought you.
Sound on: the new acquaintance speaks German. You choose what to say back, and Frasa tells you why it works.
